The Department of Archaeology & Museums, Haryana was established in 1972 with the primary aim of protection, conservation, preservation, maintenance and promotion of the State protected monuments and sites. The movable heritage like sculptures, coins, archaeological artefacts, archival objects etc. are being safeguarded and displayed to create awareness among masses. The Department at present, has under protection, 73 monuments and sites, 5 Zonal Museums and 1 Site Museum.
